About the Sixth Floor

ad-door as-saadis (i.e., the sixth floor) refers to the floor of the building where I live in downtown Cairo. A few blocks from Tahrir Square--the "epicenter" of Egypt's Jan25 revolution--it gives me a bird's eye view of ongoing events in the square as well as easy access to people and conversations across Egypt. The sixth floor is my home base, my crow's nest, and my portal to political developments. Now, it's also a place where I can share developing political news as well as conversations, observations and thoughts related to the future of this fascinating country as it navigates a period of particular uncertainty.
